Why Am I Banned?
If you find yourself banned from HybridIRC, it is likely due to a violation of our network policies. Bans are typically enforced for reasons such as inappropriate behavior, disruptive activities, or breaches of our Acceptable Use Policy. The specific reason for your ban can vary based on the nature and severity of the incident.
If you are unsure of the reason for your ban or believe it was issued in error, we recommend reaching out to our support team for further clarification. We are committed to a fair and transparent process.
Common Reasons for Network Bans
- Unsolicited Advertising: Promoting products, services, or content without prior consent is prohibited on HybridIRC.
- Malicious Attacks: Includes distributing malware, launching network attacks, or disrupting services or users.
- Engagement in Illegal Activities: Using bots, scripts, or tools for spam or disruption violates our terms.
- Harassment or Abuse: Bullying, abusive language, or hostile behavior towards others will not be tolerated.
- Impersonation: Pretending to be another user or staff member to deceive is strictly prohibited.
- Evading Bans: Attempting to bypass bans (via new accounts, proxies, etc.) may lead to permanent bans.
- Inappropriate Content: Sharing or promoting offensive or graphic material that violates community standards.
Channel Bans
If you are banned from a specific channel, please contact the channel founder or one of its staff. Network administrators do not interfere in unofficial channels unless a policy violation occurs.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Flooding of channels or clients
- Spamming or mass advertising of channels, websites, or other IRC networks
- Denial of Service Attacks
Channel founders have their own policies and may enforce bans at their discretion. However, behavior that threatens the rights of other users or the network’s integrity is not allowed.
Network Ban Durations
Ban durations vary depending on the violation. During an active ban, you won’t be able to access the network. If you believe your ban is unjust, please contact support@hybridirc.com.
DNSBL (DNS Blacklists)
DNSBLs help block connections from known spam/malicious sources. If your IP is listed, access may be denied as a precaution.
If you are banned for reasons like:
- Tor Exit Nodes: Access via Tor exit nodes is not permitted on our network.
- DroneBL: Visit their site to delist your IP if it's flagged.
- EFnet RBL: Same process — check and remove your IP via their site.
